Blog

No better way to start

When I registered this site it was 2019, I was a mum of a two year old boy and I had just been promoted at work so I was now managing a team of professionals. I was looking for a space to exercise my creative spirit and to play however I never found the time to self indulge. I was busy, sure, but little did I know what would have changed in just a few months. Writing this today, I am “trapped” under my three month old, trying to entertain a four year old and watching my to do list grow and grow and grow! What did I do with all my time before kids? And surely writing in a blog now is not the most productive use of my time?

This blog was to be a creative space for me to indulge my need to connect with others, to share stories and ideas and to hopefully document many beautiful journeys of self discovery, creativity and love.

Prior to 2020 I had struggled to find the time to make the blog a priority. Perfection was a huge stumbling block to starting too. Perfectionism, a virtue to achieve my best or an excuse not to put in the work that would be required to make for interesting blog posts? Now, after our worlds have been shaken and forever marked by 2020 I think I have to accept that there is no time like the present and there is no space for paralyzing perfectionism or avoidance.

I need to make the time for me, to discover who I am when you strip away the titles. Time to fill my cup so that I can fill others. Space to be vulnerable to make connections and grow. Freedom to be creative to explore and to learn.
So here we go. No typing furiously on a laptop in my perfect imaginary home office or sunny kitchen table (images of Sex and the city in my mind). Rather I type with one finger on my phone while breastfeeding for the ninth time today 🙂
